Summer is just around the corner and that normally means less clothes and more skin…..
How do you feel about that? Still a bit uncomfortable in your own skin and would like to loose 2-4 kg? Below are 5 easy tips you can follow to reach that goal.
1. Stay away from sweet bottled drinks and fruit juices
Instead of all the soft drinks that are out there on the market, Coke, (yes, even Zero, Diet etc), Fanta, Pepsi, tonic (the list can go on and on), get some sparkling water, add a few ice cubes and squeeze in a fresh lime. Fruit juices always consist of hidden sugar (even if it says NO added sugar). If you feel like a fruity treat, eat the fruit instead, that way your body gets more fibre and vitamins.
2. Do not skip meals and that includes breakfast
The worst thing you can do is to skip a meal. It has just the opposite effect of what you want. You need to have at least four to five regular meals every day. We do not want to starve our bodies. To lose weight fast you have to start your metabolism early. It’s always best to have breakfast within 45 mins to 60 mins of waking. The idea is not to wait for to get really hungry. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day but that does not mean that it should be the most filling meal of the day.
3. Make sure all meals consist of good carbs, good fats and lean protein, from quality sources
This make you feel fuller for longer and keeps your body happy because they all have a different role in the body. Make sure you choose the right types of food.
Good Carbs are everything that you can pick or gather and eat straight away without any cooking needed. e.g. cauliflower, capsicum, cucumber, lettuce, herbs, asparagus (yes, you can eat this raw). Stay away from grains, starchy vegetables that need a lot of cooking to be edible, i.e, pasta, rice and all processed food.
Good Fats Believe me; you need good fats to lose weight. Do not be scared to eat a portion of good fats this includes, avocado, nuts and seeds, olives, olive oils, coconut oil. Remember that it is the sugars that are your enemy.
Lean Protein, not only do we need it to build and repair muscle, protein also keeps us satisfied for longer. If you have a chance to choose free range grass fed protein sources please go for it. Mix it up and keep it interesting, why not try kangaroo, elk or emu.
4. Eat only when you are hungry but not starving
Some of us have the tendency to eat whenever we see food. We use parties as an excuse to stuff ourselves. Understand that the effect of a whole week of making the right food choices might be wasted by just one day’s party food. Whenever you are offered something to eat do not decline it completely but just break off a little piece so that you appear not to be rude and at the same time stay on track. If you just had a snack and are still hungry there is a big chance that you are a little bit dehydrated. Try a glass of water before you reach for the doughnuts.
5. Control that sweet tooth
It is natural that we have cravings for sweet things especially all kind of chocolates, cakes, ice creams and desserts. Take this weight loss tips seriously and go easy on these things and each time you consume something sweet understand that it is going to add on somewhere. Be smart, I suggest not completely cutting out everything that you like, but when you do decide to have the treat share it with someone or just buy one of the things that you really like. You do not need to eat the whole 2 litre bucket of ice cream or 500g of cookies just because you bought it.
There will be times when you feel sick and tired of eating the “right” stuff and completely lose it and eat everything you can get your hands on. Please pick yourself up and make all other meals perfect meals.
Start to treat food as a natural source of medication and you will be running around on the beach feeling fabulous this summer.
