About darren

I am lucky enough to do everyday what I love. Working with motivated passionate coaches and clients who share my vision for a healthy, fit and grateful modern world. Staying abreast of best practices, implementing what I learn in my own life so that I can then teach those around me is what gets me up early on cold dark Winters mornings. I'd be keen to assist you when you are ready.
I feel a tide turning.
And we at Ignite are keen to ride it.
A movement away from single use plastics for convenience.
Many of us watched the series on the ABC – War on Waste http://www.abc.net.au/tv/programs/war-on-waste/
It was a real eye opener for many and had us ask ourselves some hard questions.
Like, ‘What am I doing that is contributing to the waste issues of the world and how can I make a difference’?
Some Wasteful Facts for You
The average Australian family produces about 2.25kgs of waste a day, enough to fill a 3 bedroom house every year.
This amount is increasing every year.
Australia is one of the highest producers of waste per capita in the world.

Best Place to Start
For me the easiest, biggest and most immediate difference that we can make is reducing or removing from our lives single use plastics. Plastic bags, plastic bottles, coffee cups just to name a few.
There are multi use options for all of the above single use plastic items, we just need to be organised.
Just to put it in perspective.
There are 1,000,000 plastic water bottles used every minute around the world.
Less than half end up in recycling and the current economics of recycling means that these items often end up in landfill taking 1000 years to break down. Even worse when littered they end up in our oceans killing sea life and washing up on beaches.
The answer to plastic water bottles is easy and many have adopted it already.
Have your own stainless steel water bottle that you carry with you.
We don’t go through a lot of plastic water bottles at Ignite but we have provided them since our inception. However, in our quest to reduce our waste and take responsibility we have decided that we will no longer be providing plastic bottled water in the fridge at Ignite when the current stock runs out.
What we will be getting is a new water dispenser that will have a bubbler and bottle filler.
Discount on Stainless Steel Bottles
And we have spoken to our long term friends at Rushfaster.com.au and they have offered for the month of February a 20% discount on all stainless steel water bottles if you use the code (IGNITE).
This is just the start of the journey for Ignite and I’m really keen to talk to you more about our plans for living responsibly.
But for now if you need a beautiful stainless steel water bottle check out https://rushfaster.com.au/c/43/water-bottles/
