I believe that I haven´t reached my full CrossFit potential and have plenty of room for improvement, as an athlete and as a coach. Becoming a part of Ignite brings me a step closer to fulfilling my dreams and I’ll do my best to help all of you to reach yours.
If you are like most of the people I know, you could do with a little less stress in your life.
When stress becomes an all the time thing, cortisol becomes unnecessarily elevated and leading to many negative effects on the body, including fat gain around your midsection, junk food cravings, anxiety, allergies, illness, low mood and poor athletic performance, just to name few.
To stay on top of your health and to help you reduce your stress level, try this couple of everyday jams for a stress relief
  • Laugh – humor and the laughter have powerful effects on mood, productivity and stress. Watch couple of funny videos for an instant stress relief.
  • Play a game – playing games can positively affect stress and creativity, significantly lowering cortisol and improving hormonal balance. Download yourself Pokemon Go and go catch them all!!!… just be careful not to get caught up playing it for too long so you don’t create even more stress
  • Get outdoors – spring is here, so it’s a perfect time to plan a trek for the weekend. It’s not just the quiet and relaxing atmosphere of hiking, but trees and plants actually release aromatic compounds that have therapeutic benefits and will help you to relief from stress related disorders such as anxiety and depression. Even as little as 10 minute walk outside can lower your cortisol and boost your productivity.
  • Spent some time with your friends – face to face interaction is going to have a positive effect on your level of stress. Get off your mobile phone and facebook and actually go catch up with your friends. Human connection has major cortisol lowering benefits. If you want to get super chilled than go for human touch, try giving a 20 second hug to your friend for your daily dose of oxytocin. (yes it will be ackward)
  • Play your favourite tunes – not only can listening to your all time fav increase your performance, it also has a calming effect on the brain and lowering cortisol
I am keen to hear what it is that helps you to de-stress and ready to help anyhow I can

I just play with food to de-stress…or kittens..

I’m going to try the 20 second hug out on one of my unsuspecting staff today though – thanks for the awkward tip marek 😂
