I am lucky enough to do everyday what I love. Working with motivated passionate coaches and clients who share my vision for a healthy, fit and grateful modern world.
Staying abreast of best practices, implementing what I learn in my own life so that I can then teach those around me is what gets me up early on cold dark Winters mornings.
I'd be keen to assist you when you are ready.
This Tuesday just gone (2nd August, 2016) saw the 14th Birthday of Ignite.
Fourteen (14) years ago (2nd August, 2002) on a Friday if I remember rightly, myself and then business partner (Jamie) purchased a fledgling boutique training business that combined all the benefits of personal training (the program, the coaching and the trust) in a small independent gym environment that catered to busy inner city professionals. A beautiful marriage of service, expertise and flexibility at an affordable rate that got results and is loved.
Fast forward 14 years and we have managed to retain all the foundations of what has made Ignite so special. The programs, the coaching (especially the coaches) and the trust.
We even still have a few clients (also now friends) that started with us back in 2002 and over a dozen who have been with us for 10+ years. You know who you are and we thank you sincerely for trusting us with your health and fitness journey for all these years.
It amazes me to think of all the people who’s lives we have impacted over the last 14 years, it must be in the thousands. When I’m in Surry Hills picking my kids up from school it is difficult to not run into a past client, who will inevitably mention, “I’ve never been as fit or in as good shape as when I was training at Ignite”, which is always nice to hear. The kids roll their eyes and say, ‘Someone else you’ve trained Dad’.
Undoubtedly the one thing that has made Ignite great since its beginnings and continues today are our trainers. It is the trainers that bring to life the unique Ignite concept and make your training sessions a special one – sharing with your their knowledge and often a laugh (and sometimes a tear) along the way.
Laura’s Changing Role
We have been lucky enough to have lots of great trainers over the years, however, none more full of energy and memorable in recent times than Laura. Laura’s role at Ignite will be switching over the next month from trainer to events co-ordinator.
Laura has been offered a position at the Forensic Hospital at Long Bay to work in an Exercise Physiology role engaging individuals with long term mental health issues, which is one of the things she’s very passionate about. You will still see Laura around Ignite training, smiling and generally being loud.
We do have a new kid on the Ignite block who brings a wealth of knowledge with him and a mystical charm, which might just be his accent. Check out Jono’s profile on our About Page . I will say that he is like no other trainer we have had.
Ignite is a family to me and our trainers are like my children. When they start with us they are often wide-eyed and Ignite is a brave new world to them. We do our best to teach them what they need to know to help you – our clients and we often learn from them. And we know that one day they will seek other brave new worlds to continue to grow.
I heard a saying recently which resonated with me deeply. It was with regards to parenting, however, I feel the concept easily rolls over to any endeavour we are engaged with where we are continually striving for betterment, along the way experiencing struggles and sometimes only just feeling like we are surviving.
“The days are long, but the years are short” – Gretchen Rubin (Author, Blogger and Speaker)
Do you know the feeling when one particular day seems endless — but then the year passes in a flash?
That’s how I feel about the last 14 years.
I would love to hear from you (clients past and present) what some of your fondest memories are of Ignite. Please post to comments or if you would prefer just shoot me an email.
